Northern Nevadans enjoy a rich and rewarding lifestyle. There are a multitude of opportunities to experiece recreation, cultural events, or further your education.
The area offers up all four seasons, providing year-round outdoor activity for all. There are 18 alpine ski resorts in the nearby Lake Tahoe region, as well as nordic skiing closeby. The many lakes, rivers and streams provide for every sort of water activity - boating, waterskiing, sailing, swimming, as well as the chance to catch some worldclass fish. The opportunities for biking and horseback riding are exceptional. There are also some of the most beautiful places to hike and camp, with endless opportunity to explore the Sierra Nevada range. Within a few hours drive one will find some of America's most beautiful National Parks as well, such as Great Basin and Yosemite.
Reno is ranked the #1 cultural city by the National Endowment for the Arts. The visual and performing arts are both well represented, as well as events for both adults and children. Lake Tahoe hosts a Shakespeare Festival and the Valhalla Arts & Music Festival. Reno offers the Reno Philharmonic, Nevada Opera, Nevada Museum of Art, Nevada Festival Ballet, Reno Rodeo, the Reno Balloon Race, and the Reno Championship Air Races. July is the month to take in the Uptown Downtown Artown festival with over 200 events throughout the month, and in August Reno showcases classic cars and rock n' roll with Hot August Nights. Did we mention the Virginia City Camel Races?
There are many opportunities for a quality education in the Reno area. The University of Nevada Reno offers over 130 degrees, and numerous local community colleges offer degrees, certificates and occupational training. The primary education system is comprised of dozens of private and public schools, and two of the local high schools has been ranked Top 200 in the nation.
Many of California's major metropolitan areas are nearby. Sacramento is an hour and a half away by car. The San Francisco bay area , including all its food, wine, culture, and professional sports is a scenic four hour drive on I-80.
Summer months provide for temperatures that average 75 degrees with highs in the 90's, and the year-round average is 55 degrees with an average humidty of 30%. A comfortable climate to experience the enjoyment of life at its fullest.
